Eucharistic Holy Hour
Worship & Liturgy   >   Eucharistic Holy Hour

“Adoration means entering the depths of our hearts in communion with the Lord, who makes himself bodily present in the Eucharist. In the monstrance, he always entrusts himself to us and asks us to be united with his Presence, with his risen body.”
-Pope Benedict XVI

On Thursday evenings, along with the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we keep a Eucharistic Holy Hour in the Church. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament begins at 7:30 p.m. In the presence of the Lord in the Sacrament, we hear Scripture and offer prayer, followed by a reflection given on the Scripture readings. All of this takes us to about 8:00 p.m., after which there is a period of silent prayer until Benediction. The service normally concludes about 8:25 p.m.

Several major prayer intentions are taken up every month while others may be chosen according to particular needs. In general, the weekly intentions are as follows:

1st Thursday - Religious vocations
2nd Thursday - Respect for the dignity of life
3rd Thursday - World peace
4th Thursday - For victims of abuse

Any changes to this schedule, or the intention for a fifth Thursday, when it occurs, will be noted in the weekly bulletin.
