It is a great honor and privilege for all of us to be preparing the beautiful masterpiece known as the Requiem of Gabriel Fauré. Our performance will take place on Sunday, November 1 (Feast of All Saints) at 7:30pm. We will be joined by choirs from Ursuline Academy and Jesuit College Prep, and an orchestra of some of the finest orchestral musicians in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
This online resource in being provided to ensure uniformity in the marking of all scores. Not only will this system create consistency of articulation and dynamics to save valuable rehearsal time, it also represents your conductor’s most recent thoughts on this masterpiece.
Clicking on a page of music will open a PDF file with Adobe Acrobat Reader. (live link here?) Each file is a photograph of one page from the piano/vocal score. These marks have been copied directly from Al’s score. At a minimum, copy in all markings for your part, plus those markings above the soprano line which apply to all. Better yet, copy in all of the markings to get the full picture, so that you can see why you have been asked to phrase a particular way.
This marked score has been provided solely for the purpose of transferring markings and may not be used for rehearsal or performance.
Notes from Al will be posted periodically after rehearsals, but especially during the final weeks before the performance. Please check the notes prior to the next rehearsal so time is used most efficiently.
Thank you for your hard work, commitment, and dedication to make this performance of the Fauré a memorable and spiritual event.
--Al Calabrese
